What do i need to know about a Guitar Pedal Board?

I’m interested in getting a pedal board but I am very confused. How do i power the pedal board? What types of chords do i need to plug EVERYTHING in? How many pedals do I need? If i go over that then can i still power them all? How many pedals can a pedal board hold? How to I connect my amp, pedal board, and guitar?

Hello there,

Power? Pedals can be powder through a AC adapter and many also use a battery.

Chord? You use chords like your guitar chord only shorter. How long you need depends on the layout and where you put the pedal board in relation to the amp.

Everything in? No idea what you mean, I suspect you don’t either.

How many pedals are needed? As many as you need to play your music. You may not need any. You may need 2 dozen. If you don’t know what pedals you need, you probably don’t need any.

Go over? How can you go over? You can never have too many or too few pedals.

Still power them? Of course.

How many will it hold? Depends on the pedal board. They come in all sizes and many folks custom make their pedal boards to accomodate the number they use most often.

Connection? A chord from your guitar to the first of the pedals in your effects loop. chord from first pedal to second pedal and so on. Then a chord from the last pedal to the amp.

Pedals are not cheap, at least good pedals. Do you really know if you need any. Or is it a matter that you just want some but don’t know how to use them. Do you know what each pedal will do? If not, you probably don’t need it.
